What is ECONOMICS?

ECONOMICS
is a social science that studies the Production, distribution, and consumption of goods and service.
The term economics comes from the Greek word oikonomia  means 'management of household'.

There are two kinds of degrees in Economics.

Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Bachelor of Science in Economics


So, What's the difference between the two?

BA degrees is more on theory and liberal arts. It also require students to get a foreign language class.

while, BS degrees is more quantitative data (numbers, math etc.). The students may have to take upper level of calculus.

but what am I taking?

I'm taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Economics:

This program is designed to provide students with solid background and training in the methods and applications of economic analysis. The students’ research skills are honed through the various economics courses such as international economics, managerial economics and human resource economics, further preparing them to be proactive when confronting current economic issues.

Career Opportunities:
  • Economists for both government and private enterprise, corporate planners, credit or foreign exchange analysts in banks
  • High school economics teachers (with government licensure exams)
  • Stock brokers or traders
  • Research work in the academe or government
  • Marketing researchers
